    How local search actually works

Local SEO is not magic, and it’s not a secret. Google publishes the basics. Its own help page says local results depend mainly on three things: how relevant your business is to the search, how far you are from the person searching, and how well known your business is.

Google also says plainly that “there’s no way to request or pay for a better local ranking.” So the work is about making your business easy for Google to understand and easy for customers to trust. Anyone selling a shortcut is selling something Google says doesn’t exist.

RelevanceDoes your profile and website clearly match what people search for? Right categories, a page for each service and plain words customers actually use.
DistanceHow close you are to the searcher. You can’t move your shop, but you can be clear about it. Accurate address or service area, and pages for the towns you really cover.
ProminenceHow well known you are, online and off. Reviews, consistent listings across the web, links from other sites and useful content all feed into it.

What’s included in our local SEO services

Every plan covers the same four parts. What changes from business to business is how much of each you need, which we agree with you before we start.

    1. Google Business Profile

We set up or clean up your profile, choose the right categories, add your services and hours, and keep it active with regular posts and real photos. We also help you ask customers for reviews in a way that follows Google’s rules.

    • Setup and optimization
    • Posts
    • Photos
    • Review requests

    2. On-page SEO

We make your website say clearly what you do and where. That means better page titles, updated content, internal links between related pages, local business schema and fixes for slow pages.

    • Titles
    • Content updates
    • Internal links
    • Schema
    • Speed fixes

    3. Local citation building services

A citation is any listing of your business name, address and phone number. We build and correct them so your details match everywhere. Mismatched old addresses and phone numbers confuse customers and search engines alike.

    • Yelp
    • BBB
    • Apple Maps
    • Bing Places
    • And others

    4. Content and link building

Each month we add new content that answers real customer questions and run backlink outreach to earn links from relevant sites. This is the slow, steady part that builds prominence over time.

    • New content monthly
    • Backlink outreach monthly

For most local searches, your Business Profile is the first thing people see. Your website is where they decide.

Our Google Business Profile optimization service

Your profile is often the first impression, before anyone visits your site. Small mistakes here cost calls. We work within Google’s own guidelines, because breaking them can get a profile suspended.

    • Your real business name only. Google’s guidelines don’t allow extra keywords or locations in the name.
    • Service-area businesses keep their home address hidden, as Google’s guidelines say they should.
    • One profile per business, with no virtual office addresses.
    • Review requests sent to all customers, never only the happy ones, and never with a discount attached.
    • Short, personal replies to reviews, good and bad.

Offering rewards for reviews, or asking only happy customers, breaks Google’s review content policy. We won’t do either, even if a competitor does.

Local SEO pricing: from $499 a month

Our Local SEO plan starts at $499 a month and includes all four parts above. You get a fixed price before we start. Here’s how our small business SEO services compare with the other ways owners buy SEO.

What affects the scope of your plan

    How competitive your trade is

A personal injury lawyer in a big city faces more competition than a piano tuner in a small town. Tougher markets need more content and links.

    Number of locations

Each storefront has its own Business Profile, listings and page, so more locations means more work.

    How many towns you serve

Service-area businesses often need a useful page for each main town or suburb they cover.

    How many services you offer

Each main service usually deserves its own page so it can match the searches people make.

    The state of your listings

Years of old addresses, duplicate profiles or a rebrand take extra cleanup at the start.

    The state of your website

A slow, outdated site limits what SEO can do. Sometimes rebuilding it costs less than patching it.

Our pricing, in plain numbers. The Local SEO plan starts at $499 a month. If your business needs more, such as several locations or a very competitive market, we quote the higher price upfront and explain why. You’ll know exactly what you’re paying for before any work begins.

SEO services for small business owners who also need a website

Local SEO and your website work best as one job. Your Business Profile gets you seen. Your website turns that visit into a call. Here’s how our services fit together, depending on where you’re starting.

No website yetStart with a free homepage design. If you like it, we build a five-page custom website from $750, live in two weeks. SEO foundations like service pages, fast loading and schema come built in, so the Local SEO plan has something solid to work with.
A website that doesn’t bring in callsIf your current site is slow, hard to edit or confusing on a phone, SEO alone won’t fix it. We’ll tell you honestly whether to optimize it or replace it. See our website redesign services.
A good site that nobody findsThis is where the Local SEO plan does the most. Profile, listings, on-page work, content and links, month after month.
You just want the site looked afterOur Growth maintenance plan at $99 a month includes hosting, updates, edits and Google Business Profile updates. It keeps things tidy. The Local SEO plan is the active campaign to grow. Compare them on our website maintenance plans page.

Every website we build runs on WordPress, and you own it. There’s no hosting lock-in. Want more detail on the build itself? Read about our WordPress website design and custom website design.

    What SEO can’t promise

Google’s own advice on hiring an SEO says it clearly: “No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google.” We agree, and we’d rather tell you now than disappoint you later.

Rankings move with things nobody controls: where the searcher is, what competitors do and changes Google makes. Distance matters a lot, so you may show up well near your shop and less well across town.

A local SEO company should never:

    • Guarantee first place, the map pack or a set number of leads
    • Give you a fixed date for when you’ll rank
    • Buy reviews, offer rewards for them or post fake ones
    • Stuff keywords or city names into your business name
    • Create fake addresses or extra profiles to cover more towns
    • Be vague about what they’re doing each month

Source: Google Search Central, Do you need an SEO? Google also warns against SEOs who are “secretive or won’t clearly explain what they intend to do.”

    Websites we’ve designed and built

Real, live websites you can visit on your phone right now. SeniorCare.Services is a good example of local search in action: a US directory built around city pages that help families find care near them.

    Local SEO services questions

How much do local SEO services cost?

Our Local SEO plan starts at $499 a month and covers your Google Business Profile, on-page SEO, local citations, and monthly content and link building. Across the US market, agency retainers often run from about $500 to $3,000 a month. Businesses with several locations or very competitive markets get a higher quote, given upfront.

What is included in local SEO services?

Ours include four parts. Google Business Profile setup, posts, photos and review requests. On-page SEO, including titles, content updates, internal links, schema and speed fixes. Consistent local citations on sites like Yelp, BBB, Apple Maps and Bing Places. And new content plus backlink outreach every month.

How long does local SEO take to work?

There’s no honest fixed answer. Fixing a broken profile or wrong listings can help fairly soon, while competitive searches often take many months of steady work. It depends on your market, your competitors and where you’re starting from. Be wary of anyone who gives you a set date for page one.

Is local SEO worth it for a small business?

For most businesses that serve customers in a set area, yes. People searching for a local service usually want to hire soon. Showing up in the map results and on Google search puts you in front of them at that moment. Whether it pays off depends on your margins, your market and how well your website turns visits into calls.

What’s the difference between local SEO and regular SEO?

Regular SEO tries to rank a website for searches anywhere. Local SEO focuses on searches with a place attached, like “dentist near me” or “plumber in Tucson.” It leans heavily on your Google Business Profile, reviews and listings, alongside the usual website work like content and links.

Can you guarantee first page or the map pack?

No, and nobody honest can. Google’s own guidance says no one can guarantee a number one ranking, and there’s no way to pay for a better local ranking. What we can promise is clear, careful work on the things Google says matter, and openness about what we’re doing and why.

Do I need a new website to do local SEO?

Not always. If your site is fast, works well on phones and is easy to edit, we can optimize it. If it’s slow or outdated, SEO will struggle and a rebuild may cost less than patching. Our five-page custom websites start at $750 and go live in two weeks.

What are local citations and do they still matter?

A citation is any online listing of your business name, address and phone number, such as Yelp, BBB, Apple Maps or Bing Places. They help customers find you on other platforms and help search engines confirm your details. Wrong or outdated listings cause confusion, so keeping them consistent still matters.

Can I do local SEO myself?

Yes, many owners handle the basics. You can claim your Google Business Profile, add photos, ask for reviews and keep your listings correct. The harder part is time. Monthly content, link outreach and site fixes add up fast. A local SEO company makes sense when that time is worth more spent on your actual work.

Do you work with service-area businesses without a storefront?

Yes. Plumbers, cleaners, roofers and other businesses that travel to customers can rank in local results too. Google says service-area businesses should hide their home address, so we set up your service area instead and build useful pages for the main towns you cover.
