Updates matter just as much. WordPress’s own documentation says that to keep a site secure, you should always update your plugins and themes to the latest version. You can do it yourself from the dashboard, or hand it to us.

WordPress website design vs Wix and Squarespace for local businesses
Wix and Squarespace are good products. If you want a simple site this weekend and plan to stay put, they can work. The trade-off shows up later, when you want to grow, change hosts or hand the site to someone else.
